Volunteer work in the Blackwater Valley

Voluntters digging a new pondMuch of the conservation and practical habitat management tasks in the Valley are carried out by volunteers and there are many different local groups working to improve the Blackwater Valley area.

Although most of our volunteers like to work in the fresh air, there are various other non-task jobs that volunteers can help with. These will vary but include things like carrying out surveys, helping in the office or helping at events we attend.

Why volunteer?

  • Help to protect and enhance the local countryside
  • Get out and about in the fresh air
  • Join in physical activities
  • Work as part of a team
  • Discover more about the area
  • Learn and share skills
  • We also need non-task volunteers to help us in our office

What volunteer groups are there?

  • Blackwater Valley Countryside Volunteers work on a number of different sites throughout the Valley. Current work programme
  • Local conservation groups work on specific sites throughout the Valley and beyond

When are volunteer tasks held?

On a regular basis (e.g. weekly, monthly) throughout the year.
