 A new coppice for Snaky Lane

There were plenty of willing helpers at the Snaky Lane Community Wildlife Group on Sunday 7th February 2010 to help plant 80 trees. The trees, a mixture of Hazel and Sweet Chestnut, will grow to form a small ‘coppice’ in years to come that will provide a new habitat for wildlife and maybe bean sticks for local residents.

Reed Bed Rejuvenation

Tuesday 2nd February was World Wetland Day and a group of volunteers from the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership took part in this world wide event by clearing encroaching scrub from part of the reed bed at Lakeside Nature Reserve in Ash.

Support your Local Wetland
 

Volunteers wanted to clear part of the reed bed at Lakeside Nature Reserve located in Ash, as part of World Wetlands Day on Tuesday February 2nd. The work is being carried out by the Blackwater Valley Conservation Volunteers, who welcome new recruits to join them, so by coming out for the day you will be taking part in a worldwide initiative.
