In my 20 years with BVCP I have worked on various projects. At first community activities fell to me organising children's activities in and out of school, organising and leading the Blackwater Valley Conservation Volunteer programme. At the start, one Sunday a month seemed a lot.
The successes of the landscape improvements and restoration scheme has lead us further into management of sites and so midweek tasks were established and I was also involved in setting up the Moor Green Lakes Group and writing site management plans.
Negotiating access to create the Blackwater Valley Path has also fallen under my remit.
Now I am, unfortunately, once removed from the practical work and have more to do with raising the resources to ensure others can achieve. This is complicated by the fact that I am currently carrying out a dual role working at BVCP for two days a week on strategic issues and working for Hampshire Country Council for the rest of the time.
