Your invitation to: Step into the Country

…and find out about your local countryside

 

Learn about beekeepingExperience the great outdoors indoors on Saturday 20th March at a special family event in Aldershot called ‘Step into the Country’, where the Blackwater Valley takes centre stage for the afternoon. The event is designed to promote local countryside sites, traditional crafts and the countryside in general. There will be plenty of hands-on activities as well as workshops, storytelling, information stands and demonstrations. adventurous, there will be a guided walk around the
local area starting at 1.30pm, so dress up warmly!

  • Be inspired at a crafty creepy-crawly workshop.
  • Make an insect home.
  • Have a go at willow weaving or basket making.
  • Discover the delights of beekeeping.
  • Find out how to make hazel hurdles. 
  • Listen to a storytelling session.
  • Learn about your local countryside.
  • Take part in a quiz or one of the hands-on activities.
  • Be amazed by the traditional craft demonstrations.
  • See countryside-inspired artwork by local schools exhibited in the gallery.
  • Join the 3-mile guided walk around the local area
     (walk leaves the Centre at 1.30pm).

Have a go at basket makingThere’s something for all the family and we promise that you’ll discover more about the countryside on your doorstep, the local countryside sites and the conservation groups that look after them. Organised jointly by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and the West End Centre in Aldershot, this event is part of Hampshire County Council’s Culture-all promotion. Doors open from
1-5pm. Entry is free.
