Toasted marshmallow - all in a day’s work at Southwood Woodland

Southwood woodland Volunteers needed to join conservation tasks at Southwood Woodland. It’s a great way to get out in the fresh air, help the local environment and, of course, toast some marshmallows!

The Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership is working in collaboration with Rushmoor Borough Council who own the woodland, to set up a new volunteer group to help improve the site.

The next task is on Sunday 22nd February from 10.30am – 3pm, when we will be clearing invasive willow from a meadow glade, to open it up for wildlife, such as butterflies and lizards.

If you would like to come please meet the Ranger at 10.30am by the southern entrance on Kennel’s Lane, off Iveley Road, Farnborough, just north of the Cody Technology Park. Anyone can come along as tools and training will be provided,  but volunteers should wear old waterproof outdoor clothing and strong shoes or boots. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The Southwood Woodland group will meet on the fourth Sunday of each month, if you have any questions please contact Stuart the Countryside Ranger at Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership on 01252 331353.
