Snow... in summer!

We couldn’t quite believe our eyes when we received this picture.  It was taken on the section of the Blackwater Valley Path through Hollybuh Park in the late morning of Sunday 28th June by Chris Kay, who regularly sends in details of wildlife sightings.

Sunday was hot and sunny, but the picture seem to show a light dusting of snow on the path. Can you guess what it is?

No it’s not cotton wool...
nor is it the result of a fake winter created for a photoshoot...
It may look like the contents of several feather duvets but that’s not what it is either.  You need to think of the natural world... Still no idea?

In actual fact the path is covered in a drift of fluffy Willow seeds. Did you guess correctly?
