Find out what birds have been seen this month at Moor Green Lakes  >>>

Thursday 21st

Lakes still 95% frozen over but there were 8-10 Goosander, 3 Egyptian Geese, numerous Teal and Lapwing,
1 Shoveler, 1 Gadwall, many Widgeon and Tufted Ducks.
We watched a Red Fox walk right across metres or so of Colebrook Lake on the ice.
We also saw a Coot catch a vole on the scrape in front of the hide, it then retreated to the water, swam out and proceeded to drown the unfortunate mammal! It then swam to the bank and disappeared into the vegetation with its prize.

All seen at Moor Green Lakes in the morning by Chris & Angela Kay. Location map Link to site map
