Post Christmas stroll round Rowhill
A Sunday afternoon post-Christmas stroll seemed like the perfect way to finish our 2008 programme, so we gathered at Rowhill Nature Reserve on Sunday 28th December.
Unfortunately there were only 10 of us, but this small select group spent a very pleasant afternoon.
Our guide was Kathy Spinks from the Rowhill Nature Reserve Society, who has a formidable knowledge about the site and its history. We learnt a great deal as she pointed out the site’s different habitats, and there were plenty of lichens (pictured bottom right right) and fungi (pictured bottom left) to be admired. The weather was dry but it was very cold and we were most grateful to get into the Field Centre at the end of the walk for tea and cakes.
Our thanks to Kathy and the other members of the Rowhill Society for their hospitability. Christine Reeves, BV Link Co-ordinator
