Rowan Fields

This site was split into two by the construction of the Blackwater Valley road. The western section comprise two riverside fields still with remnants of the ancient meadow flora including:
- Knapweed
- Meadow Barley
- Marsh Birdsfoot Trefoil
To the east of the new road is a newly restored and landscaped former gravel pit. The mineral from this pit was used to build the road. The site has many newly planted trees, open grassland areas and a small pond.
Access
There is open public access and a car park giving access to the riverside footpath.
The main access to the site is from Shawfield Lane off Shawfield Road in Ash, where there is a free car park. Grid ref: SU 8855506. Access is also possible from the Blackwater Valley Path, between the Basingstoke Canal and Aldershot Road (see map of this path section).
