Come along to a pensioners’ pond dip!

Brown Hawker dragonfly nymphYou’re never too old to find out about nature, so if you’re a senior citizen and would like to learn more about the underwater world of ponds, here’s your opportunity. Come along to Sandhurst Memorial Park on Friday 20th June when there’ll be a pond dip especially for the older generation.  All the equipment will be supplied, including dipping nets and identification charts, and under the guidance of local rangers you will be able to discover more about the weird and wonderful creatures that live in the pond.

“There are plenty of opportunities for children to get up close to nature, mini-beast hunts and pond dips are always aimed at youngsters,” explained Christine Reeves, Visitor Promotions Officer at Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership who came up with the original idea. “So I thought it was about time the older generation had a chance to get involved. This is the first time we’ve ever held an event of this type so we hope plenty of people will come along.”

Part of Sandhurst Love Parks Week, this event is organised by Bracknell Forest Rangers in association with Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and Sandhurst Town Council. If you would like to have a fun and informal morning learning more about the underwater world of ponds, come to the Balancing Pool at Sandhurst Memorial Park, off Yorktown Road, Sandhurst on Friday 20th June anytime between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
