Monday 22nd

Red Kite

Seen over Farnborough College of Technology, Boundary Road by Adrian & Carol Humphries.

Monday 22nd

A Buzzard perching around the tree tops. Although Buzzards are becoming more and more common in the Valley, we usually only see them soaring, in fact the only area we ever seem to see them perched is about Ash Common.

Seen along the BV Path adjacent to the river through Hollybush Park by Chris & Angela Kay. Location map

Sunday 21st

Large Owl. We had heard the crows mobbing something earlier which in itself is not unusual. We were able to get a brief sighting through binoculars and both agreed it was an owl and a big one to boot (or should that be 'to hoot'?). We have observed Barn, Tawny and Little Owls in the wild before. It was none of these. The bird  had a body length of perhaps 16" and a 24+" wingspan, it was a tawny colour in the light.   Possibly a Short Eared Owl. Can anyone confirm?

Seen 10:20 in the morning along the BV Path adjacent to the river through Hollybush Park by Chris & Angela Kay.

 Friday 19th

A very large raptor perched on the power lines Too small for a Kestrel or Sparrowhawk and it was not a Buzzard. Any suggestion?

Seen in the afternoon on the BV Path heading south from Hollybush Park approaching Lakeside Road by Chris & Angela Kay.Location map
