Walk the Path Weekend
Have you discovered the Blackwater Valley yet? On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership are holding a ‘Walk the Path’ event designed to introduce participants to the many different faces of the Valley. Why don’t you join us for this unique event?
The 23 mile walk follows the route of the River Blackwater, which starts at Rowhill Nature Reserve in Aldershot and continues to Swallowfield in Berkshire. The overall pace will be easy rather than strenuous, which is why the walk starts at 10am on both days and has been divided into two sections, covering about 13 miles (21km) on day one and 10 miles (17km) on day two. Because the walk is linear, transport will be available to take all participants who have pre-registered back to the day's starting point.
Nature reserves, parks and open areas the walk will pass through/by include: Rowhill Nature Reserve, Aldershot Park, Tongham Pool, Lakeside Nature Reserve, Hollybush Park and Hill, Frimley Hatches, Hawley Meadows, Blackwater Park, Shepherd Meadows, Sandhurst Memorial Park and Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve.
For further information please phone Sarah Broadhead on 01252 331353 or email us for full details. It is important that you register before May 16th to secure a seat on the minibus. Registration costs £2 per person for one day, £3 for both days, £5 to include a copy of our Path Guide.
This walk is part of the ‘Discover the Blackwater Valley 2005 Programme’ organised by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and designed to encourage residents within the Blackwater Valley area to learn more about the countryside on their doorstep.
