30th September 2004
Join our Fungi Foray
Start the week with a difference, come on our walk and learn about the fungi found at Yateley Common. Look for Bracket fungi growing on dead birch, search for the unmistakable red and white of Fly Agaric, seek out groups of brilliant Sulphur Tufts or the distinctive white round Puffballs. Join Andy Davidson on Monday 10th October at 10.30am for a special two-hour guided walk - you may be surprised at what you discover. Autumn is the high season for fungi and you can never be quite sure what you’ll find - although walking round Yateley Common with its woodlands, heathland and ponds, is sure to be a memorable experience.
If you would like to join the walk please meet at Wyndhams Pool car park off Cricket Hill Lane, Yateley for a 10.30am start. Please wear suitable clothing and outdoor shoes. This walk is part of ‘Discover the Blackwater Valley’ organised by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and designed to encourage residents within the Blackwater Valley area to learn more about the countryside on their doorstep.
