12 Days of Christmas Woodland Wander

Forst on yew branchSpent too much time indoors this Christmas? Looking for something to do with your family that doesn’t involve jokes, TV screens, crackers or mince pie? Then why not join a special themed wander through the woods on Thursday 29th December organised by Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership?

Using the 12 days of Christmas for inspiration, (the 29th is actually the fourth day of Christmas) the walk takes place through the woodland of Rowhill Nature Reserve, with 12 stopping points along the way. At each of the stops there will be some form of activity, quiz question or puzzle for children and adults alike; participation is optional so if you just want to come along for the walk that’s fine.

Depending on the weather and numbers, this special woodland wander will take about 1½ hours, then it will be back to the Field Centre for tea and cakes. All quiz participants have the opportunity to win some prizes, whilst children can colour in some pictures. The afternoon should finish around 3.30pm.

So mums, dads, grandmas and grandpas, children, aunts, uncles and cousins, if you’re looking for something to do after Christmas that’s a bit different come along to the Rowhill Field Centre, Cranmore Lane, Aldershot on Thursday 29th December for a 1.30pm start. We recommend you wrap up warm and, although the site is relatively flat, please wear suitably sturdy footwear. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. It costs £2 per person or £5 per family, including refreshments. This event is organised by Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership, Ash Lock Cottage, Government Road, Aldershot, GU11 2PS. Telephone 01252 331353.
