20+ Chub and 2 Common Carp tumbling about in a 15 metrer stretch of the river.
Several Speckled Wood, several Small Whites, several Orange Tips, NO other butterflies.
First sighting of a Damselfly but too far away to identify.

One Peacock, one Orange Tip (but NO other butterflies seen along BV Path from Government Road to The Old Ford)

Nightingale singing in tree. Was briefly spotted hopping from one branch to another.

Seen and heard at 20:00 in Shepherd Meadows, close to bridge which leads to car park by Christine Wolfe. Location map

Red kite seen flying over the fishing lakes between Yateley and Sandhurst church.
The first Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) seen - a beautiful shiny metallic green chafer.

First queen hornet (Vespa crabro) seen after emerging from hibernation

Cuckoo heard near Thatchers Ford.
Two female Cuckoo Bumblebee Bombus vestalis (syn. Psythirus vestalis - no common name ) seen foraging on ground ivy. This is one of the most common Cuckoo Bumblebees. These are the first females seen after emerging from hibernation. All the most common bumblebees - "The big six" - have already emerged from hibernation.

Holly Blue. 2 Orange Tip. 2 Peacock. 1 Speckled Wood. 2 Small White. 1 Large White.
Our best butterfly walk of the spring so far but numbers are definitely down quite significantly.
