Hop Along to the Green & Global Fun Day

Hop along to Aldershot’s Princes Hall on Sunday 5th October to join Rushmoor Borough Council for a fun packed Green & Global Fun Day.

The green themed fun day kicks off at 11.00am with live performances of music and dance on the main stage throughout the day until 4.30pm as well as lots of free activities for all the family.

This year’s special celebrity guest is Ellie Harrison from BBC TV’s The One Show.  Ellie, a trained ecologist and environmentalist will be presenting her show ‘Wild About Your Garden’.

New to the event this year is Quantum Theatre, with their brand new show ‘Bin Raider’. The fun interactive workshop teaches audiences how to save energy, see the benefits of walking and cycling and to brush up on the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle!

Community groups and charitable organisations will be filling the main hall with colourful displays, selling small gifts and offering green advice.

Les Murrell, the co-ordinator of the event from Rushmoor Borough Council said: “As always, we have day jam packed full of activities, competitions, music and dance.  Visitors can enjoy lots of green themed fun whilst learning about important environmental and global issues – see you there!”

This year’s theme is ‘greening your backyard’ and there will be a variety of green themed activities including an eco-driving simulator and a demonstration wildlife garden as well as a furry green frog hoPping around the Princes Hall entertaining guests.  Visitors can also meet local community groups and voluntary organisations, try fairtrade products and sample food from around the world in the One World Café.

For further information about the event visit www.rushmoor.gov.uk or call Les at Rushmoor Borough Council on 01252 398 538.
