Aldershot gets Ready to Go Green
Visit Aldershot town centre in Hampshire on Saturday 10TH September for a day of environmental fun.
‘Go Green in Rushmoor’ is a free community event organised by Rushmoor Borough Council.
Live music, dance, birds of prey and a children’s farm are among the main attractions at the event, which runs from 11.30am to 4.30pm.
The sounds of jazz, folk music, bluegrass and African drumming will be filling the town centre with live performances and acoustic sets in The Wellington Shopping Centre and Princes Gardens. Among the performers are Keyo Bobo a-four piece tropical band who play authentic African music from Ghana.
There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained including arts and crafts, face painting, workshops, a bouncy castle and a cycle challenge. Shoppers can visit the Fairtrade food market, take part in cookery demonstrations and food tastings.
Union Street and Wellington will be full of colourful stalls and gazebos where visitors can find out more about the work of local voluntary groups and buy small gifts.
Les Murrell, Energy and Environment Manager at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: “We have a fun packed day planned full of activities for all the family – farm animals, live music, dance, arts and crafts, shopping and food. There is something for everyone.”
