Frimley walk
It has to be said that the weather was not as kind as it could have been for our April walk along the waterways in the area. The clouds were grey and threatening and it looked is if we would get totally drenched. As it turned out we only experienced a very light shower and although we had to walk through a few puddles we stayed dry.
In all 18 people turned out for the walk - a good number considering - which started at Frimley Lodge Park. Bob, our walk leader, led us out of the park and northwards along the Basingstoke Canal footpath. We then did some road walking through Frimley Green, crossed over the railway line and along the path passing between two of the lakes that make up Frimley Hatches to reach the Blackwater Valley Path.
Once on the Path we headed southwards down to Coleford Bridge, where we crossed over the A331 and headed down along Gerry’s Copse to North Camp station. At this point we said goodbye to the Blackwater Valley Path and headed east through Carrington Park Recreation Ground and across the Frimley Road, picking up the Basingstoke Canal footpath again.
Turning north we headed back along the footpath, stopping briefly to find out exactly what kind of plant was growing alongside the canal - the answer was Bilberries - before returning back to our starting point of Frimley Lodge Park .
Thank you to everyone who turned up and hopefully next time the weather will be a little bit more conducive.
