Go Wild around Frimley
Want to discover the ‘wild’ side of Frimley? Then join a circular walk on Wednesday 30th May organised by Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership that takes you through a variety of different landscapes, passing through woodland and heathland and alongside both the River Blackwater and Basingstoke Canal.
Starting from Frimley Lodge Park at 10am, the five-mile walk should last about three hours and is designed to encourage participants to learn more about the countryside on their doorstep and to see the many different wildlife habitats found in the area. Come on the walk to learn some of the history connected to Frimley Fuel Allotments... discover some surprising facts about the Basingstoke Canal... experience the different sights and sounds of the Blackwater Valley Path... find out what happened at Frimley Rectory in 1850. The route is fairly flat, although there will be some slopes and steps and some of the tracks and paths could be wet and muddy.
Anyone is welcome, just meet for a 10am start at Frimley Lodge Park off Sturt Road, Frimley on Wednesday 30th May. Please go to the first car park on your left when entering the Park from the main road. Booking is unnecessary but please wear suitable clothing and footwear. Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. For more details about the walk, ring 01252 331353.
