EXHIBITION: Tales of the Riverbank

Come along to our special exhibition depicting the history and natural history of the Blackwater Valley, showing how man’s activity has helped to shape the riparian environment and the change from working area and resource to amenity landscape. Organised jointly by Blackwater Valley Country Partnership and Surrey Heath Museum. Venue: Surrey Heath Museum, Knoll Road, Camberley GU15 3HD. Tel:01276 707284. Sunday 1st

WALK: Farnham Town Walk

Join a local guide and take a walk of around 2-3 miles to discover more about the history of this Georgian town. Meet at the Wagon Yard car park at the bottom of Downing Street, Farnham. Costs £3 for adults, children free. All the money goes to local chariites. For more details ring 01252 718119. This walk is held on the first Sunday of each month.
  

Saturday 7th

WALK: A Date With Nature

Join the Wokingham and Bracknell branch of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on a monthly walk around Dinton Pastures Country Park. Children under 18 must be accompanied. Time: 9am–12.30pm. Meet in the main car park at Dinton Pastures Country Park.  Cost: £1, children free (proceeds to RSPB).
  

Sunday 8th

WALK: Friend’s of Lavell’s Lake Bird walk

Lavell’s Lake is rich in bird life, which is attracted to the reed beds, shallow scrapes and quiet surroundings. Two hides are available for viewing. On the second Sunday of every month join the Friends of Lavell’s Lake for a walk around the Park. Time: 9am-12 noon. Cost: Members free, donation of £1 for non-members. Meet: Sandfords Lane car park opposite the Black Swan Sailing Club, Dinton Pastures Country Park, Davis Street, Hurst, Berks RG10 0TH.

WALK: Autumn Glory

Enjoy the late Autumn colour on this gentle 4 mile ramble through the woodlands and fields and along the quiet lanes in the Chobham area. Dogs on leads welcome. Times: 2pm. WALK: The Countryside in Autumn - Popes & Peacocks

This is one of a series of regular mid-week circular walks organised by the Bracknell Forest R.o.W. Ranger. There are three categories: Moderate, Rambler and All Day. HEALTH WALK: Lanes and Parks

Get ‘active for life’ and keep fit by taking a steady 3-mile walk at 3 mph every second Wednesday of the month. Each walk is led by a Ranger so just turn up at 10am. This month the walk will be around Savernake Park. WALK: The Wild Side of Sandhurst

Join the Blackwater Valley for a walk covering about 5 miles and taking in some of the wilder areas of Sandhurst round Wildmoor Heath & Snaprails Park. Time 1.30pm - 3.30pm. Tree Surgery Explained at Lily Hill Park

Come and see arboriculturists at work and meet the Bracknell Forest Council’s tree officers as they explain why and how they work on trees. Time: 2pm – 3.30pm. Cost: Free. WALK: Wander the Wey: Newark to Ripley

TALK: The Surrey Wildlife Trust Grazing Project

WALK: Historic Heathlands at Yateley

A gentle walk around the Minstry of Defence area of Yateley Common, to try and discover some of the historic secrets of the area. Heathlands abound with history and Yateley Common has more than most. From the A30/B3272 roundabout take Bloomsbury Way and immediately turn right into Woodside. Time: 11am - 1pm. Meet: at the small car park on the right. Grid ref: SU 843 592. WALK: Tree identification in Winter

How do you identify trees without their leaves? Join the Blackwater Valley Countryside Trust on this easy stroll around Frimley Lodge Park to see if you can name trees that "all look the same" in their winter state. Meet at 2pm outside the pavilion, Frimley Lodge Park, Sturt Road, Frimley Green. Come prepared for the weather and walking off the main paths. Will last 1½ - 2 hours.  All ages welcome. Well behaved dogs also.
