RANGER PATROL: Dusk Discoveries on the Heath

Join Surrey Heath Ranger Peter Maynard on his 2-mile moonlit patrols of Lightwater Country Park. See the dark side of the heathland and hunt for amazing nocturnal beasts such as Nightjars, Bats and Tawny Owls! Wear warm clothing as it may become cool later. Meet outside the Heathland Visitor Centre within Lightwater Country Park, Lightwater, Surrey GU18 5RG (Grid ref: SU 921 622) at 9.30pm for this 2-hour event. WALK: Orchid Walk

An evening walk led by Tony Mundell, to look at orchids around North Warnborough Greens. Time: 7pm. Meet at the Jolly Miller pub car park, Hook Road, North Warnborough. WALK: A Date With Nature

Join the Wokingham and Bracknell branch of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on a monthly walk around Dinton Pastures Country Park. Children under 18 must be accompanied. Time 9am – 12.30pm. Meet on the First Saturday of every month in the main car park at Dinton Pastures Country Park.  Cost £1, children free (proceeds to RSPB).

WALK: A Summer Stroll at Lily Hill Park

Sunday 7th

BIKE RIDE: Dusty Bike Day

Get your bike out of the garage, dust it down and join the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and CTC Farnborough part of CTC North Hampshire for a 7-mile cycle ride along the Blackwater Valley Path to  rediscover the delights of cycling. Starting at Lakeside Nature Reserve at Ash this led ride will show you a Safe2Cycle route. The bike ride actually starts at 10.30am and there will be light refreshments at the halfway point. Tuesday 9th

WALK: The Countryside in Summer - Crowthorne & Sandhurst

One of a series of regular mid-week walks, today it is as  ‘All day’ walk, which will cover up to 10-14 miles returning by 4pm at the latest. Meet at 10.30am at the Look Out Discovery Centre, Nine Mile Ride, Bracknell. Map ref: SU 827 661. HEALTH WALK: Green Woods and Lanes

WALK: So you think you know - Triggs Length!

Mee the new National Trust River Wey lengthsman managing Triggs Length and tell him your stories of the area, any details of flora and fauna or how things used to be. WALK: Lavell’s Lake Bird Walk

Lavell’s Lake is rich in bird life, which is attracted to the now much extended reedbeds, shallow scrapes and quiet surroundings. The new Bittern Hide offers extensive seating and standing room overlooking Tern Scrape whilst Teal Hide offers great views over the scrape and a fine Sand Martin Wall.  Meet at 9am at Sandfords Lane car park opp. Black Swan Sailing Club, Dinton Pastures Country Park, Davis Street, Hurst, Berks RG10 0TH.  Donation of £1 appreciated and goes towards conservation management and winter bird food. WALK: Nightjar Evening Walk around Castle Bottom

Join Ian Stoneman, Senior Wildlife Ranger, from 8pm – 10pm, for an evening walk to see and hear nightjars at Castle Bottom National Nature Reserve. From the A30 take the A327 north towards Eversley, then take the first right onto Coopers Hill which is the B3016, and the Reserve main gate is past the quarry and Forestry Commission gates on the right. EVENT: Nightjar and Wildlife Evening

Start the evening at Alice Holt Education Centre with a talk by our wildlife ranger. This is followed by a walk in the woods to look and listen for nightjars and other nocurnal creatures. CYCLE RIDE: Ride & Seek from The Look Out Discovery Centre

As part of National Bike Week enjoy a 6-mile ranger-guided family bike ride exploring the cycle ways and green parks of Bracknell Forest. The route will include some gradients and road crossings. WALK: Stepping Out on the Summer Solstice at Frost Folly

A family-friendly walk through the history and footpaths of Warfield. Suitable for families and big wheeled pushchairs. Starts at 2.30pm and should last about 2 hours. WALK: Nightjar Walk to Caesar’s Camp

Join Bracknell Forest Rangers and the Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) to listen out and look for nightjars, including a 4 mile walk. Suitable for adults and families. Time: 8.30pm – 11pm. FOR FAMILIES: Nocturnal Wonders - Glow worms & Bats

Come and see bats in a flying frenzy and learn how to identify them with the help of a bat detector, then join in the search for one of our most fascinating and illuminating insect the Glow worm. Suitable for ages eight and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear sturdy shoes and suitable clothing. 9.30pm-11pm. WALK: Butterflies at Bartley Heath

A chance to see butterflies at their peak season on this walk around Bartley Heath reserve led by Peter Vaughan. From 10.30am – 12.30pm Wear stout footwear as the ground is uneven in places.
