Wednesday 4th

WALK: Mid-week Walk at Moor Green Lakes   10am

A morning walk round Moor Green Lakes to look for wintering ducks on the lakes and visiting Siskin and Redpoll by the river. Meet in the Moor Green Lakes car park in Lower Sandhurst Road Finchampstead, RG40 3TJ. Grid ref: SU 805 628. Please note this event is run by an RSPB volunteer group and organised for group members and interested members of the local community. Therefore, facilities and number of places may be limited. WALK: A Date With Nature       9am - 12.30pm

Join the Wokingham and Bracknell branch of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on a monthly walk around Dinton Pastures Country Park. Children under 18 must be accompanied. Meet in the main car park at Dinton Pastures Country Park. Cost: £1, children free (proceeds to RSPB).
 

Saturday 7th

CONSERVATION: Eco-Aerobics     1pm - 3.30pm

An afternoon of conservation work on the endangered heathland of Turf Hill with the Greenspace Team from Surrey Heath Borough Council clearing the pine saplings that threaten to smother the precious heather. Sunday 8th

WALK: Friend’s of Lavell’s Lake Bird Walk    9am - 12 noon

Lavell’s Lake is rich in bird life, which is attracted to the reed beds, shallow scrapes and quiet surroundings. Two hides are available for viewing. On the second Sunday of every month join the Friends of Lavell’s Lake for a walk around the Park. Cost: Members free, donation of £1 for non-members. Discover one of Frimley’s hidden treasures on this gentle walk through charming and historic woodland. HEALTH WALK WITH A RANGER: Parks, Ponds & Paths   10am

CONSERVATION : Help the Heath 10am - 1pm

Help the heath by joining Keith Blackmore of Hampshire Wildlife Trust cutting and burning invasive scrub on Yateley Common. Tools and instruction will be provided but please wear stout footwear. From the A30/B3272 roundabout take Bloomsbury Way and immediately turn right into Woodside. Meet at the small car park on the right. Grid ref: SU 843 592. A circular walk along mostly man-made tracks, through trees and skirting the lake. Tuesday 17th

EVENT: Traditional Orchard Wassail     5.30pm - 6.30pm

Wassailing is a very old English custom to celebrate and protect fruit trees and ensure a good harvest. Come and enjoy a simple revival of this seasonal tradition with Morris dancers and a little tipple or two. Suitable for all. Please bring cider or apple juice. WORKSHOP: Willowcraft at Zebon Copse     10am - 1pm

Learn about willow in conservation and its traditional uses with the Zebon Copse Ranger. Harvest your own willow, helping to conserve ecologically important mire habitats, before heading into the warmth of the Community Centre to learn the ancient craft of working with natural willow and make your own wigwam plant-climber to take home for the garden! All tools and materials and light refreshments will be provided on the day. Please wear wellies and outdoor clothing suitable to weather conditions.  All welcome, no experience necessary! From 10am-1pm. Cost: £10 per person.

FOR CHILDREN : Big Park Birdwatch       10am - 12 noon

To support the National Big Garden Birdwatch join staff and volunteers from the Wokingham and Bracknell RSPB group to discover the birds of Lily Hill Park. Learn how to record the birds in your garden for this important survey and make a simple bird feeder. Best suited for 5 years +.  Costs: £2 donation to the RSPB. WORKSHOP: Basket Making   10am - 4pm

Learn how use traditional English basket-making techniques to make baskets that are robust, functional, unique and very beautiful. WALK: Hoary Hedges and Sleeping Giants   10.30am - 12.30pm

Join Hampshire Wildlife Trust for a gentle walk over Foxlease Meadows, identifying shrubs in an informal hedgerow survey. We’ll also spend time looking closely at some of the wonderful veteran trees and checking for signs of wildlife activity. Meet at Foxlease Meadows off the A327 (Minley Road).
