EXHIBITION: Tales of the Riverbank
Come along to our special exhibition depicting the history and natural history of the Blackwater Valley, showing how man’s activity has helped to shape the riparian environment and the change from working area and resource to amenity landscape. WORKSHOP: Christmas Crafts for Adults at Alice Holt
Come and enjoy the creative fun in the warm Education Centre at Alice Holt Forest and make an evergreen wreath, willow stars and natural table decorations. Our resident enthusiasts will show you how it’s done. Price includes all materials, instruction and ample festive refreshments! Cost: £18 per person. FOR CHILDREN: Santa Cruises on the Basingstoke Canal
Climb aboard one of our boats at the Canal Visitor Centre, Mytchett and take a gentle cruise to the start of the tinsel trail in the woods. Little ones lead the way and follow the trail to find Father Christmas in his grotto and receive a special gift! Cruise back to the Centre and head into Santa’s workshop for Christmas crafts, warm drinks and mince pies for all. Trips last 1 hour 20 minutes. Booking is essential. WALK: A Date With Nature
Join the Wokingham and Bracknell branch of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds on a monthly walk around Dinton Pastures Country Park. Children under 18 must be accompanied. Time: 9am – 12.30pm. Meet in the main car park at Dinton Pastures Country Park. Cost: £1, children free (proceeds to RSPB).

WALK: Farnham Town Walk
Join a local guide and take a walk of around 2-3 miles to discover more about the history of this Georgian town. Meet at the Wagon Yard car park at the bottom of Downing Street, Farnham. Join a Surrey Heath Ranger and make a nut feeder to help the birds in your garden this winter. All materials are supplied, but limited, therefore the event is run on a first come, first served basis. WALK: Friend’s of Lavell’s Lake Bird walk
Lavell’s Lake is rich in bird life, which is attracted to the reed beds, shallow scrapes and quiet surroundings. Two hides are available for viewing. On the second Sunday of every month join the Friends of Lavell’s Lake for a walk around the Park. Time: 9am-12 noon. Cost: Members free, donation of £1 for non-members. Help clear young invasive pines from one of our precious and endangered heathlands and you can take one (or more!) home at the end of the session. Our trees are less dense and shapely than their shop bought cousins but do not drop their needles! Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided for hard workers! Join a Surrey Heath Ranger for a leisurely stroll along the Basingstoke Canal and through woodland, taking in the bird song and fresh morning air. This walk is approx 3.5 miles.
