Come along to Dusty Bike Day!
If you’ve got a bike in your shed that’s been gathering dust, get it out and join a Dusty Bike ride in the Blackwater Valley on Sunday 7th June, organised by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership and CTC Farnborough. The ride, covering 8½ miles, will be mostly off-road following the Blackwater Valley footpath and Basingstoke Canal path and is a lovely way for anyone with a bike – including families – to spend a Sunday morning.
- Not sure about the distance? Don’t worry. It’s a ride not a race, the route is flat and there’s a refreshment stop at the half-way point.
- Not sure about the route? Don’t worry the ride will be led by experienced cyclists from the CTC Farnborough part of CTC North Hampshire, although all participants will need to ride with care as some sections are narrow and uneven.
- Not sure about traffic? Don’t worry, the route is virtually all off-road, although there will be some road cycling and sections where cyclists will have to dismount, but the leaders will be on hand to explain.
So why Dusty Bike Day? Well so many people own a bike but don’t actually use them so this is an opportunity for them to get out their bikes, dust them down and rediscover the delights of cycling, but please ensure your bike is roadworthy. The route follows a stretch of the Blackwater Valley Path with a multi-user surface, making it particularly suitable for bikes, as well as buggies and wheelchairs.
Interested? Then come along to Lakeside Nature Reserve car park off Lakeside Road, Ash, grid ref: SU 888 517 from 10am. The actual ride starts at 10.30am.
