Basically my job involves promotions, publicity, marketing, publications and public relations, in fact everything to do with making people aware of the Blackwater Valley, the River, the Path, all the work we do and all the wonderful sites located within the Valley area. I also co-ordinate the Blackwater Valley Walkers’ Link, our walking group.
As well as producing our newsletters, part of my brief includes keeping this website up-to-date so if you do spot any mistakes (sorry!) please let me know about them. If you have any suggestions about what you would like to see on the website, once again, please contact me.
I’ve been interested in the countryside for many years, although as a journalist I don’t have great in-depth knowledge on the subject, but I’m learning all the time. From my time with Surrey Wildlife Trust - I worked there as Communications Officer before moving here in June 2004 - I became much more aware of wildlife, conservation, traditional management work, etc.
One of my aims is to improve my observational skills so that I become more adept at identifying the wildlife found within the Valley. I’ve set up a bird-feeding station outside my office window so my bird-spotting skills are improving. I’m getting quite good at identifying the butterflies found in the Valley too. You never stop learing.
Hope to see you around.
