Bramshill Plantation

An extensive area being worked for gravel and restored to forestry under Forestry Enterprise control.
The bare ground, ditches, ponds and wet areas created in this process have attracted much wildlife. The Site of Special Scientific Interest designation that applied to the wetland area on site has now been extended to cover the whole plantation.
The ponds support Pillwort, a rare and very small aquatic fern, as well as many species of dragonfly such as Black Darter and Keeled Skimmer.
The recently restored or planted parts of the site generate heather and support rare heathland birds.
Public footpaths cross the site.
