BBC Surrey visits the Blackwater Valley

It’s not every day that a radio reporter comes out to see what
we do, but that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday 28th April when BBC Surrey reporter Jules Anderson came to visit us.

We took her to meet our Tuesday conservation volunteers, who were working on cutting back the undergrowth along the path near Brookfield Road in Aldershot.

There she spoke to our Ranger Stuart Croft and to volunteers
Bob Smith (centre picture) and
Eric Hood (top picture). Eric has
the distinction of being one of our longest serving volunteers, as he’s been coming out with us for 17 years.

She met the other volunteers as they stopped for a tea break and then chatted to Dave Pilkington who, as well as being a regular Tuesday volunteer, is Chairman of the Blackwater Valley Countryside Trust. The final interview was with Visitor Promotions Officer Christine Reeves.

So why did Jules come out to talk
to us? Well the Blackwater Valley Countryside will feature in a forthcoming Real Lives programme, which is a regular feature of the
BBC Surrey Mark Carter Breakfast Show 104/104.6 FM. As yet we
don’t know when it’s going out, but when we do we’ll certainly let you know so that you can listen in.
