On the 007 trail

Hawley CommonWould you like to walk in the footsteps of James Bond? Well join the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership on Thursday 22nd May when you’ll see where the thrilling opening sequence of Die Another Day was filmed - yes really. The six-mile walk around Hawley Wood, Hawley Common and the Minley area, will also take in a manor house built in style of a French chateau, a Bronze Age mound, a forgotten runway and bridge, plus some outstanding trees and views, although you're unlikely to see 007. Hawley Wood is an area of unspoilt semi-natural Scots Pine woodland and heathland that opens out ontoHawley Woods
Hawley Common. It has been
designated a Site of Importance
for Nature Conservation (SINC) for its ecological value.

If you want to join the walk, meet for a 10am start at Woodside, Blackwater, a road off the A30/Hawley Road roundabout. As
you leave the roundabout turn right almost imemdiately into Woodside and proceed about ¼ mile down to an open grassy where you can park. Grid ref: SU 843592. The walk includes one hill and a small boggy stretch, but no stiles and it should last about 2½-3  hours.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
